Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We've got answers. Here are some of the most common things people ask about PawFormatter.

Is my data safe and private?

Absolutely. This is the most important feature of PawFormatter. All parsing and conversion happens 100% locally in your web browser. The data you paste or upload is never sent to any server, which means we—or anyone else—can never see it. Your privacy is guaranteed.

Is PawFormatter really free? What's the catch?

Yes, it's completely free, and there's no catch. There are no hidden fees, no subscription plans, no usage limits, and no premium-only features. We believe essential tools should be accessible to everyone.

Which formats does PawFormatter support?

PawFormatter can beautify and convert between JSON, YAML, TOML, XML, and TOON. You can pretty-print a single format or convert data from any one of them into another.

Do I need an internet connection to use it?

After you load the website for the first time, the tool works completely offline. Because all the parsing libraries are loaded into your browser, you can disconnect from the internet and continue to format and convert your data securely.

Are there any file size or usage limitations?

No, we do not impose any artificial limits on file size, the number of files, or how many times you can use the tool. The only practical limitation is the processing power and memory of your own computer, as very large or complex documents may take longer to process.

Why did my conversion produce unexpected output?

Issues are rare but can happen for a few reasons:

  • The input might be malformed or not valid for the selected format.
  • Some formats cannot represent every value identically. For example, XML has no native array type, so arrays are approximated during conversion.
  • Comments and formatting-specific details (such as YAML anchors) may not survive a round-trip conversion between formats.

Always verify important output before relying on it.

Do you track my activity on PawFormatter?

We run no first-party analytics or tracking, and your data processing stays entirely on your device. PawFormatter is ad-supported, so our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may set cookies to serve ads — but this never has access to your data. See our Privacy Policy for details and opt-out options.

What technology does PawFormatter use?

PawFormatter is built on modern web technologies and permissively licensed open-source libraries, including js-yaml, smol-toml, fast-xml-parser, and the TOON reference library. They all run directly in your browser, so your data never leaves your machine.
